After a successful career as an investment banker, Claire McAdams sought to develop a business model that would enable exceptionally long-term assignments (10+ years) adding value to companies and boards by serving on up to three executive leadership teams concurrently. By their very definition, transactions are transitory – yet investor relations is a constant. Therefore, Strategic Financial Communications & IR was the key enabler for long-term management team engagements. In addition to advising, negotiating, structuring, modeling, orchestrating and executing all aspects of capital formation and capital allocation strategies undertaken by her companies, quarter in and quarter out, Claire executes her companies’ IR programs. With compensation typically consisting of a quarterly retainer fee and equity grants, this innovative and highly-flexible model enables the elimination of all bias-defining “success fees” when Claire turns her focus from IR to deal strategy and execution.

A Wealth of Experience & Company Advisory Roles
While Claire’s first role in Investor Relations began with her former banking client Nanometrics in 2005, her 20+ years executing IR programs has led to a wealth of additional company advisory roles, including:
- Shareholder activism defense
- Shareholder engagement to reverse voting of losing proxy proposals
- ESG engagement
- SEC reporting (managing annual report and proxy cycles)
- Audit Committee advisory
- Compensation Committee advisory
I had the pleasure of working with Claire for approximately 10 years while serving as CEO of Nanometrics. During that time, she headed up our investor relations (IR) and strategic financial communications activities, played a key role in executing a significant equity raise for the company, and served as a vital team member in a variety of M&A efforts. Claire’s primary strength is her ability to understand and relate to both sides of any buy or sell engagement, which helped guide us through several successful transactions. She was highly regarded by the Nanometrics executive team, our Board of Directors, our shareholders, and the financial institutions we worked with on a regular basis, and contributed immensely valuable insights related to the company’s capital formation and capital allocation decisions.
